I weave my passion for creative communications, conscious leadership, good strategies and, as often as possible, sports into all my work. I spent most of my twenties in the sports media – as a radio broadcaster with the BBC and a writer on women’s football for the Times newspaper in the UK. I reported on many different sports – from football to cricket to rugby to bowls – in the wind, rain and sunshine of Norfolk and Suffolk. The highlight was reporting on my beloved Norwich City Football Club, from football grounds all over England.
A new millennium saw me change tack, moving to Kenya to start and grow a girls’ football and rights programme, Moving the Goalposts (MTG). From less than a hundred girls at the beginning, MTG now has over 9,000 girl members who play football and access other programmes that give them opportunities to reach their potential. After ten years at the helm of MTG I headed into a new phase.
In the last 14 years, as an independent consultant, I have worked in the non-profit sector, supporting organisations in leadership and coaching, strategy and communications and writing and editing. This work has mostly been in East and West Africa, alongside several projects with regional and global organisations and networks. I am currently based in the United Kingdom.
Leadership and coaching: I develop and lead cutting edge leadership programmes and provide individual coaching support, having trained for over two years as an Integral Master Coach™.
Strategy and communications: I work with organisations to make their communications more creative and strategic while building the skills of their staff to communicate more effectively. Developing strategies and programmes around gender and adolescent girls is another area of expertise. And if there is sports in there, too, I’m a very happy woman!
Writing and editing: I provide writing and editing services, mostly to organisations in the non-profit sector.
